Classroom Rules

1. Be Respectful

2. Be Responsible

*** The students and I brainstorm, list, and discuss examples of what being respectful and  responsible really means, at the beginning of the school year. These examples will be posted in the classroom throughout the year.

Consequences

We will be using a money system for behavior. Students will earn 20 cents (in play money) per day of school attendance. They will be paid weekly and will be able to purchase prizes and small rewards at our classroom store at the end of each tri-mester.

When students have troubles behaving in a respectful or responsible manner, the following consequences will be used:

Students will be fined 10 cents for each infraction. After the second infraction in a day, students lose one recess, and will walk laps on the playground during their recess time, in lieu of playing. After three infractions in a day, your child will write a letter home explaining the problem (s) he/she had, and will be asked to brainstorm and choose a solution to avoid similar problem(s) in the future. This letter needs to be signed and returned to school the next day. If your child has four or more infractions in a day, he/she will be sent to the office to call you. Your child will then be required to stay after school in detention for 30 minutes. I do keep track of this daily, and that is how your child's citizenship mark will be determined each trimester.

*** Severe Clause: Students exhibiting severe behavior (fighting, extreme disruption, etc;) will be immediately sent to the office, and his/her parents will be contacted.
